My Aruban roots
Our Kingdom in general and the Aruban Culture in particular are a constant source of inspiration for me. Also the chaotic, dynamic, sometimes almost 'collage-like' (jazzy) Caribbean identity of Aruba, is reflected as well as I can, in this series/collection!

ODOR, milder slavery?
2023ODOR roots and descendants of slavery. There were only about 500 slaves in Aruba. Most were domestic slaves or intertwined with animal husbandry or the care of horses and donkeys. Milder slavery doesn't sound like an excuse for the deprivation of liberty. Aloë oogsten was also very hard slave work.
Merchand-pastor mentality
2022In the time of slavery and colonization, the Netherlands had in the first place the merchant-pastor mentality. The souls had to be saved of the slaves and the colonized...before exploiting!

1997This painting has been aquired by the Cabinet of the Plenipotenciary Minister of Aruba where it hangs permanently in the Ministerial Cabinet in theHague. Padu, the cultural father of Arua, happens to be rel famiy of mine.. and is considered a universal genius in the Caribbean part of the Dutch Kingdom.
